CREATIVE HEALINGS

CREATIVE HEALINGS

At Creative Healing, expressive arts become a bridge between creativity and emotional wellbeing. Using art, movement, and mindfulness, we create a safe environment to explore feelings, build resilience, and support personal growth. No artistic experience is needed — only a willingness to be present and open to the healing power of creativity.

I didn’t come to this work from the world of art, but from a deep desire to help. Years ago, I was searching for ways to support my daughter, who has learning disabilities. Through that journey, I discovered how essential expression is — not only for communicating, but for healing, growing, and moving forward.

Art became a mirror for my own process. Through painting, photography, journaling, and music, I found pathways for self-reflection that allowed me to better understand myself — and in turn, to better support others.

At one point, I dreamed of changing the world. Over time, I learned that real change happens one person at a time — through creativity, compassion, and connection. Expressive Arts Therapy became my way of walking alongside others, not to give them answers, but to help them discover their own.

For me, this work is about being a witness — to see and to be seen, to listen deeply, and to ask the right questions. I believe each person already carries the wisdom they need; my role is to help them uncover it. And when something doesn’t work, that’s part of the process — we can always keep exploring, keep creating, and keep changing.

I hold a Master’s degree in Expressive Arts Coaching and Consulting from the European Graduate School and completed my training at the Expressive Arts Institute in San Diego. I’m bilingual in English and Spanish, and when I’m not facilitating, I love exploring art, photography, journaling, and nature — places where I feel most connected to inspiration and possibility.

About me

I’m Sara Turquie, an Expressive Arts Therapist and mother of four. I work with individuals and groups using art as a path toward healing, discovery, and resilience.

Whether you're facing a physical or emotional challenge, navigating change, or simply seeking deeper self-connection, expressive arts can help you listen to your inner voice and reconnect with your strength.
I believe that creativity lives in everyone — no skill required. My work isn’t about making art; it’s about making space to be fully human.

What Is Expressive Arts Therapy?

Expressive Arts Therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses art — not as a final product — but as a process of self-discovery and healing. Unlike traditional talk therapy, expressive arts therapy invites movement between modalities: painting, drawing, journaling, photography, sound, storytelling, and more. This intermodal practice helps unlock different layers of emotion, memory, and meaning.

You don’t need artistic training. You don’t even need to call yourself creative. This work is about sensitivity, not skill. Everyone has the capacity to express themselves — we simply need a safe space and the right tools.

Through creative exploration, people often find new perspectives, access inner wisdom, and experience a deep sense of grounding and renewal.

My Approach

Each session I offer is rooted in three parts:

Check-In — We begin by noticing how you arrive — emotionally, physically, and mentally — creating space for awareness and grounding.

Creative Process — I guide you through an art-based exploration that might include painting, movement, collage, poetry, or other expressive forms. The process adapts to your needs or the group’s focus, allowing creativity to lead the way.

Harvesting — We close by reflecting on what emerged — not by interpreting or judging the artwork, but by sensing how it connects to your life in this moment.

Expressive Arts Therapy isn’t about fixing — it’s about listening. It’s about presence, curiosity, and trust. Each person has their own rhythm, their own voice, and their own wisdom. My role is to help you hear it — and to hold a space where transformation can unfold naturally.
